Tonbridge Civic Society Community Awards

We also introduced a community award and there were a number of worthy winners. The first was to Richard Collins and The Old Fire Station. Under Richard’s management, the fire station has not only been beautifully preserved but become a real asset and community hub for that part of town.

Tina Plant won an award for the tree of hearts and remembrance poppies. They are a wonderful expression of love and remembrance of town in the centre of town. The Friends of Mill Stream won a community award for renovation and maintenance of Mill Stream Community Gardens.

The fourth community award went to Bernard Chick, who has built the Upz & Downz centre in Longmead. This provides a service for adults with learning difficulties giving them new skills and experiences, as well as being a lovely – and much needed! – café.
